lelter to tub coroner. Dunedin, May .11. 3/8')!) ( t ).M.S. Charles 11. Duinn, recently returned from the front, was found dead this morning at an hotel, evidently as the result of abullct wound. A revolver lay beside him. It is understood lie was formerly an attendant at the 'Nelson Menial Hospital. At the impiest the evidence showed that the bullet entered the right temple and passed out at the left temple. Deceased had been quar-termaster-sergeant on a certain transport about two years ago. A letter found on deceased addressed to the coroner stalled that he intended lii commit suicide, and asked that a verdict id'.temporarily insane be not returned. It also stated; ‘‘lf you will communicate with the Minister for Defence and tell him all the shortages on (naming transport) are my fault through my own neglect. 1.1 will save a good man from trouble.
The inquest was adjourned to enable Captain Buxton to give evidence.
