Millman, reports that in the week prior to the introduction of the voluntary rationing scheme the supplies lo Smithlield aggregated 0.31)5 tons. During the second week of voluntary rationing the supplies totalled 5,057 tons, a decrease of 1,838 tons, or nearly 37.0 per cent., made up as followsWeek Week ending ending DifferPeh. 3. The result, say.- the Daily Telegraph, must be considered satisfactory, as indicated by the diminished demand in London—the principal distributive centre —shows that a large section of (he population of the metropolis are loyally restricting their consumption of meat to within the limits laid down by (he Pood Controller.
