SEVENTH BALLOT.

The taking of the seventh ballot among members of the Ist Division of the Expeditionary Force Deserve for the purpose of filling up the 1,70(1 vacancies in the 31st Keinforcemeuts mobilising two months hence, was commenced by the Government Statistician (Mr Malcolm Fraser; and iris stall on Tuesday. There being 8,530 names to be drawn (five for every vacancy to bo filled.), the task presented is naturally a formidable one, but it is being pushed through expeditiously. It is expected that the whole of the names will have been drawn by last night. The customary cheeking and correcting of names will then be proceeded with. The result will be issued in the form of a Gazette Extraordinary on Tuesday merging next, and will then be available to the public.
