FOXTON LADIES’ PATRIOTIC GUILD.

LETTER OF APPRECIATION. The Foxton Ladies’ Patriotic Guild have 'received the following letter of appreciation from the War Refugees Committee, London, under dale January 20th, for eases of clothing forwarded for relief purposes “We thank you for your letter of November 2nd, Ittlti, also for the information that you are again sending us some gifts. We shall he very grateful for the same. May we heg of you to contradict any reports you may hear that we are not wanting clothing. They are absolutely untrue, and without foundation. We have many thousands of refugees dependent upon us, and we are grateful for every useful garment. A letter of acknowledgement will he sent to you on receipt of the gift. We hope you received one last time; it was sent to you dulv.”

The .Secretary of the Ladies’ Guild lias received an appeal from tlie Mayoress of Wellington in connection with the parcels that are being sent every month for the men at the front. A certain number of parcels are sent each month from (he Wellington Military District, and according to the'district quota, Foxton’s number is 56. These parcels contain a pair of sox, cigarettes or tobacco, cake or sweets. Some'months a shirt replaces the sox. Each parcel is valued at half-a-crown. This means that £7 per month is expected from the Foxton district. It is quite impossible to expect the Ladies’ Guild to contribute this amount, in fact, it is not expected from a sewing guild, but from the district. The Guild wishes to pass the appeal on to the general public, and asks that all those who are willing to help to send their, subscriptions to the secretary of the Ladies’ Guild, and the list of subscriptions will be published monthly. Anyone sehding money is asked to enclose name and address in order that it may be acknowledged.
