FOXTON’S TRAIN SERVICE.

SINGLE DAILY SERVICE ASKED FOR. At last night’s Council meeting, Cr Freeman moved, and Cr Coley seconded, that while this Council agrees that the railway service to and from Palmerston North must of necessity be curtailed, the Mayor communicate with the Minister of Railways and suggest that instead of trains running to and from Palmerston North twice on three days of the week, the service, if possible, be arranged to allow of one train each day on every day of the week. The Mayor said that he had already communicated with Mr W. H. Field, M.P., on the subject, asking him to bring the matter under the notice of the Minister, arid giving reasons why the alteration should be made. The passing of the resolution would strengthen Mr Field’s hands. The motion was carried.
