NEW RAILWAY ARRANGEMENTS.
The Minister of Railways states that the suburban service up to 7 o’clock p.m. is being curtailed, and after this hour all suburban trains will cease running, except on Saturday evenings. One express will run daily between Auckland and Wellington. The time of departure of the express from Wellington will be 1.10 p.m., and from Auckland 8.45 p.m. Regarding the South Island expresses one service only will be run between Dunedin and Invercargill, the time of departure from Dunedin being 8.30 a.m. daily, and from Invercargill 1.25 p.m. Between Christchurch and Dunedin two trains each way will be continued in the meantime, and investigations made into the traffic establish the fact that business between these two cities cannot he at present satisfactorily dealt with by one train. At present no increase is being made hr the price of ordinary or touring fares. The limitation for single and return tickets has now been.altered from three months to three days.
