SOFT DRINKS ON SUNDAYS.
CONVICTIONS IN AUCKLAND. Auckland, April 12. In the Police Court to-day, Air C. C. Keltic, S.AL, delivered judgment in the eases in which fourteen keepers of soft drink shops or restaurants were charged with Sunday trading, in that they sold soft drinks. The judgment was to the effect that, though no objection could be taken to the supply of soft drinks with meals or afternoon tea, the supply of such by themselves could not be considered a work of necessity. As the practice had been tacitly permitted for a number of years, the Magistrate imposed no penalty, entering a conviction only.
