MILITARY APPEALS.
DISTRICT CASES. Al yesterday’s sitting of the Military Appeal Board at Palmerston, J. D. Aitken, teacher, Foxtou, asked for time to settle his affairs, and for financial help owing to the high cost of living. The Board decided to recommend the granting of the assistance asked for, and reserved its decision till the result, of the recommendation was made known.
The appeal of Frank Edlin, tlaxeutter, of Foxtou, was dismissed.
James Gardiner, farm manager, and shearer, Fox ton, appealed on the grounds of public interest and undue hardship. Appellant gave evidence that he was married in April of last year, and was 27 years of age. He was managing two farms, one of 4(io acres and (he oilier about (>99 acres. On Lie first there were LSI) bullocks and 990 sheep. The second place had only been taken over, and was not yet stocked. He had been shearing for about live years, and had shorn 200 per day with blades. Ho had one hov of LI to assist him on the farm properties.
To Captain Walker: He had been working on a 499-aere farm for the last nine months. He was appealing only as a shearer, not as a farm manager. He shore about 2,000 sheep last season. The appeal was adjourned sine die, the Board recommending (hat during the shearing season lie should follow the occupation of shearer.
