MCRDFRER ATTEMPTS SL’ I(' 1 Did. Chrislchurch. April S. About 1,0 o’clock this morning a gii'l named Henrietta Coster, eighteen years of age, was murdered by Charles Butler, a man of forty, at View Hill Station, ton miles from Oxford, .North Canterbury. The girl’s father is the caretaker at View Hill, and with his wife and two daughters went to church at Oxford, leaving Henrietta at the house. Butler, who was a “roustabout” on the place, got a razor from his hid. entered the homestead kitchen, where Henrietta Coster was silling on a sofa, darning stockings, and cut her throat from ear to ear. No oilier kind of interference was attempted with the girl. Bailor unsuccessfully allempled lo drown himself in a well. He was arrested, and admitted I lie crime, and was brought lo Chrislchurch.
