IX view of the work of organisation at present in progress it is interesting' to gather from the (.fovernment return just published that there are .12,(58.1, holding's in Xew Zealand used principally for agricultural purposes (says the Wairarapa Age). On these, the total number of employees last year were 20,725 males and 4,305 females, an average of about two to each holding. Xo fewer than 12,108 males and 12,750 females, or considerably more than half the total, were employed on holdings of between 100 and 2,000 acres. The number of employees on the large properties was comparatively small. For instance, there were sixty-eight holdings of between 2,000 and 3,000 acres in extent, upon which a total of only 291 male employees were to he found, and ninety holdings of between 3,000 and 30,000 acres, on which there were 500 male employees. The employees on pastoral properties totalled 40,089 mules and 0,270 females. The large majority of 27,302 males and 5,453 females were employed on holdings ranging from 100 to 2,000 acres. It may interest the public to know that there are 10,131 pastoral holdings in Xew Zealand without a single employee. Of these, 150 are over 2,000 acres in area.
