Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, MARCH 8, 1917. WAR LOAN CERTIFICATES.
THERE is still a steady demand by tlie public for war loan certificates, flic total sales at the'close of last month having reached £1,209,803. It is evident (slates an official memorandum) that small investors and the patriotic public who desire to help forward the war are placing a certain amount of their savings into the loan through this channel, and it cannot be 100 widely known that these certificates are still on sale, and, in addition to forming a very good investment for the liveyearly period of I heir currency, they are an excellent means by which everyone can assist in raising the money necessary to carry the great war to a successful termination. During the first week in February the sales amounted to £1(1,837; during the second week to £13,337; during the third week to £8,747, and during the fourth week to £9,139. The sales in the Wellington district are still very much greater than those in any other district of the Dominion, and have just reached the £300,000 mark. Following in order come Christchurch and .Dunedin, almost level, with Auckland not far behind. Outside the four centres, the Invercargill and Napier districts come next with an almost equal amount. Following is a summary of the sales up to 28th February, 1917: — £ s. <l.
