DIPHTHERIA—HOW IT MAY BE AVOIDED. Diphtheria, is usually contracted when the child has, a cold. The cold prepares the child's system for the reception and development of the diphtheria germs. When there are eases of diphtheria in the neighbourhood children that have colds should be kept at home and oil the street until recovered.
