Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27. 1917. CHILDREN AND RACE MEETINGS.

A RESOLUTION from the Feilding D.H.S. to the Wanganui Education Board asking prohibition of children of school age from attending race meetings is to be sent on to the Minister for Education. It would have been more to the point if the aforesaid D.H.S. asked the Board to instruct its head teachers to devote a little time by way of lecture!tes to the scholars on the immorality of gambling. If the evils of gambling were pointed out in simple language more lasting good would be accomplished than by prohibiting youngsters from the scene of temptation.
