PASSPORTS TO WOMEN.
STATEMENT BY HON. G. W,

The Hon. G. W. Russell (Minister for Internal Affairs) stated to-day that the question had arisen in connection Avith the instructions received from the Imperial authorities in regard to the restriction of the issue of passports to women who purpose travelling through the submarine danger zone whether this embargo applies to vessels leaving Ncav Zealand for South Africa, Panama, the United Stales or Canada. The Minister hopes lo be able to make a definite announcement on the subject shortly to the effect that a limited number of passports for avomen may be issued, each application to receive special consideration. In no case, however, will permits be issued to Avomon to leave Ncav Zealand if their final destination can only bo reached by traversing the danger zone.
