WAR PENSIONS.
During the week the War Pensions Board dealt with 97 claims and 97 renewals. The net result of the week’s work was 74 pensions added to the roll, representing an annua) increased liability of £4,811.
Of the 97 new claims ti2 were from soldiers, who were granted four permanent pensions, 44 allowances, and 14 were declined. Of the remaining 35, from dependents, 20 were given pensions and eight allowances, and seven were declined.
Of the 97 renewals, 73 were continued for varying amounts (ten to be linal); 18 were ordered to cease forthwith; two were converted into pensions; and in four cases the board decided to adhere to its former decision.

Soldiers; 97(1 pensions, 235 allowances, 228 declined, 11 adjourned, 39 on hand; total, 2,483.
Annual liability; Soldiers, £51,709; average, £52. Wives and widows, £41,592; average, £97. Other dependents, £44,013; average, £2B. Allowances, £170,041; average, £55. .Making a total of 0.094 pensions, with an annual liability of £313,955. 1‘ rom this have to bo deducted some 1,000 pensioners, representing £o(),000, reducing the total annual liability to £203,900.
