A FINAL WARNING
TO BALLOTED MEN WHO HAVE NOT DESPONDED.
Dunedin, Feb. 7
liespeeling men called up in the ballot who have not turned tip for medical examination or have not gone into camp, .Mr Alien to-day uttered a fin a 1 warning. They had belter come forward voluntarily, and ask to be medically examined and sent into camp, as the law would be carried out. The Government had not taken action so far because it was not ready to act, and had not the necessary information to enable it to act. That information was now available, and action would lie taken in a very short time. Offenders might be treated as “absent without leave’’ or as “deserters." In the latter case the penalty was heavy.
