LABOUR AND THE WAR.
Auckland, h'eb. 5,
Mr Vmilch, M.P., speaking at a luncheon to members of the Northern Parliamentary lour, said: —• “'fhe man who says he would just as well live under German rule as under British rule is a foul. Wo cannot allow men to talk like that. J his war is not a football match. Our soldiers don't want bamu*kefs. They want lighters. I was told if I supported military servee 1 would go out of office. In reply to that I say if a solder is prepared to risk his life for me I would be a coward if I were not prepared to risk my billet for him.” When Mr Veitcli sat down all present standing gave three rousing cheers. Mr Field, M.P., said Mr Veitcli had expressed the sentiment of three-fourths or more of the Labour people of New Zealand.
