The Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1917. LAND FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS.
SOME time’ since we directed attention to the fact that land suitable for set (lenient for returned soldiers was to be had in this district, where areas are used for bullock-fattening purposes. The member for the district, Mr W. 11, Field, brought the article under the notice of the Minister for Lands, and in reply is informed that the matter of acquiring land in the district for the purpose mentioned is now under consideration by the Government. We hope that the matter will be thoroughly considered, and that an inspection of the land up the M ana wain river, between the Whirokino and Shannon bridges, will be made —some of the richest country for intense cultivation to be found in the Dominion.
