SPORTS AT THE SEASIDE.
The tide and weather were favourable for the sports held at the seaside on Saturday. There was a large attendance, and a most enjoyable time was spent. Results; — Diving and swimming (girls), Miss Spence; do (boys), 8. Grant and 100 yards championship; double sculls, S. Grant and F. Stock well; single, F. Stockwcll and S. Grant dead heat; diving, T. Stockwell 1, S. Grant 2; high diving, S. Grant 1, S. Childs 2; 20 yards handicap, F. Stockwell 1, S. Childs 2. Sandbuilding (12 entries), Miss Peebles 1, Miss K. Giorgi 2: flag drawing, Master Reg. Roves 1, Master Spence 2. Married women’s race (14 entries), Mrs Peebles 1. The money hunt was very exciting and amusing. Messrs Hogg and Lightbourne judged the sand-building and flag-drawing, Messrs H. Smith and MeMurray judged the swimming and diving, Messrs Godwin and Ait ken supervised the money hunt, and Mr McDonald generally supervised. Prizes were donated by Me.-srs Godagh. Corn foot. Grant, and McDonald. Mrs Grant was responsible for organising the sports, and desires to thank all who assisted to make Ihe affair stieh a sttceess.
The l sum of £2 4s was raised in aid of the seaside improvement fund.
