SHOOTING CASE.
A RETURNED SOLDIER ARRESTED.
Marlon, Yesterday. \j A shooting ailray took place at ' Mart on Junction early on Sunday morning. Robert Elder attempted to enter the residence of Stephen Fisher, a returned soldier. Failing in this, he was walking away, when it is alleged that Fisher tired several bullets from a Winchester rille. One struck a book in Elder’s hip pocket, inflicting a flesh wound. Another bullet struck Elder on the right ribs. Elder was taken to Wanganui Hospital. No serious complications are anticipated.
Fisher was arrested and charged with discharging firearms with intent to do bodily harm. , He was remanded till 15th January, bail being accepted, in his own recognisance for £SO, and a surety for £2OO.
