THIRD BALLOT.
FOR'26th REINFORCEMENTS
The ballot to complete the 26th Reinforcements was commenced at Wellington yesterday. .
On this occasion there is a deficiency of about 1,200 to be supplied by ballot, and the names of between 3,000 and 4,000 reservists will require to be drawn. Little alterations "have been made from time to time in the methods so as to obtain greater speed without lessening the fairness and accuracy of the system. The Magistrate himself is a sufficient guard against unfairness or blunders. He takes nothing for granted, and sees for himself, that each marble, properly numbered, goes into the ballot box.
