SUDDEN DEATH.

Arthur AleCormaek, aged 10 A years, son of Air AleCormaek, manager of [he Woodville gas works, and previously employed at the local gas works, died suddenly early"yesterday morning. The deceased was spending a holiday will) Air W. Hart, Whittaker Street, having come from Woodville on Thursday afternoon. He was not well on Sunday, but appeared slightly hotter at (> o’clock on .Monday morning. It was intended that he should return home on Monday afternoon, and Air Hurt culled in the doctor to find out if it would he sale for him to travel. Before the doctor arrived the boy collapsed and died. THE INQUEST. An inquest was held this morning before Air J. K. Hornblow, J.P., Acting-Coroner, and the 1 following jury;—.Messrs A. E. Wainwrigbt (foreman), A. Crowe, A. AVi.diart, D. Knewstub, C. Speirs, and K. H. Furrie, when the following evidence was taken: —

William Hart, fisherman, stated that he brought deceased from Woodville on Thursday afternoon for a holiday. He then appeared to be in good health. On Sunday morning lie complained of suffering from diarrhoea. He had a little bread and milk, and subsequently witness gave him some soda water and a teaspoon of brandy. He kept him in lied all day Sunday, and on Sunday nigh! lie had a good night’s rest, and appeared lo he much belter at (i o’clock on Monday morning. AV it ness culled in the doctor at 7 o’clock in order to ascertain if it would be safe for the boy to return home that afternoon, Airs Robinson slaying with the boy daring his absence. On returning the boy collapsed and died.

Dr Alandl said that he was called a little after 7 o’clock, and on arrival found the boy dead. From (be appearance of the body there was nothing to indicate the cause of death. He subsequently made a post mortem examination, and found that Hie boy had evidently suffered from gall trouble previously. In his opinion the cause of death was dtie to cardiac failure during an attack of biliary colic. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence.
