BOWLING.
The Manawatu Centre tournament was concluded on Wednesday evening. Tn the A section ‘three rinks were equal, and in the play-off Chappell was successful. The two section winners then played off to decide the holders of the Banner and Shield, and the game resulted in a win for Saywell by 20 points to 11. The winning rink is a particularly strong one, Bartholomew, Harford, Fruish, Saywell (s). They were the holders of the Banner from the previous tournament.
Foxton rinks at present have challenges in for three trophies held by neighbouring clubs. Rimmer lias challenged the holders of the Dixon Cup, Nash’s rink, Palmerston N.; F. Whihloy is to make another attempt to wrest the Manson and Barr Cup from Bartholomew’s rink, Feilding, and Nye is taking a team to try conclusions with Sollitt (Terrace End), who is at present in possession of tlie Manawatu Ferns,
A big Easter tournament is being arranged by a committee set up by the Palmerston and Terrace End Chibs, for which, the following substantial prizes have been allotted: The winning rink to receive trophies to the value of £l4; the second rink £B, and the third rink £4. The entrance has been fixed at Ids par man, and it has been decided to play eight full games of 21 heads. The greens of both clubs will he used. Arrangements will he made to have a social evening, and motor drivers around the district for visiting bowlers and their wives.
