At the Christchurch hospUai' weslerday afternoon, .). McKwan, age,'. 39, a steward on the Moeraki, believed to be single and without relatives in the Dominion, died from an overdose of strychnine accidentally administered by a nurse. The mistake arose from the fact that there were two solutions of the drug kept in separate bottles, one a concentrated solution and the other a diluted solution. The dose of the concentrated sedation is about 25 minims and the dilute half an ounce, but owing to a mistake a larger dose of the strong solution was administered. At the inquest a verdict was returned that deceased died through an overdose of strychnine administered in error by Sister Iviith Ford.
