SHOPKEEPERS’ ASSOCIATION.

IK ILIDAY ARRANGEMENTS

At a meeting of the local Shopkeepers* Association held yesterday, it was decided to provide the public with two late nights during the Christmas week in which to do their shopping, viz., Hriday and Saturday, 22nd and 23rd ins Is, respectively. The meeting was of opinion that it would be more convenient and satisfactory to have the two shopping nights instead of the usual one, when it is generally a troublesome matter to get what, one wauls, or, in fact, to get served at all. The two shopping nights will also (end to ease the position of local business people, who are, at the present lime, mainly working short-handed. It was also decided to add Wednesday to the Christmas holidays. Local business places will therefore observe a holiday on Christmas Hay, Boxing Hay, and the following day, 25th, -Kith, and 27th insts., respectively.
