CHRISTMAS GREETING TO THE SCHOOL CHILDREN.

By last mail we received the fidlowing letter from Sergt. (’on. Burgess, .of (he Ritle Brigade, who is at present recuperating in England. Prior to enlisting, Sergt. Burgess was an esteemed member of the local Stale school stall', and was the pupils’eompanion and coach in all their outdoor games. “Con.” endeared himself to them all, and we are sure they will be delighted to read his letter and thoughtful and appropriate greeting, and will reciprocate his kind wishes. The letter is written from Codford, Salisbury Plain, under dale 1/11/10 : ‘•Please accept my sincerest wishes for a Happy Christinas and a very prosperous New Year. Will you also kindly convey to all the kiddies at the school my best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday for them all. 1 am looking forward to the time when I shall be back amongst (hem. My Christmas is to be spent in more comfortable circumstances than it was last year, when we were ‘baptised’ by the Arabs amongst the hills behind Mersa Matruh. This year lam going to enjoy a real English Christmas for my injured leg will not permit of me, going to the front again for several months yet. —With kindest regards.”
