He was caplain of my second battery when leaving New Zealand with the Main Body, and was through the whole of Callipoli with me until he was promoted to the command of a battery. He was a good, keen soldier, ami did well. I had the pleasure of sending in Ids name when he was awarded (he Military Cross, and it may he some small consolation to you to know he died gallantly, taking great risks without the slightest hesitation, and dial: 'death was instantaneous. I, with his seeond in eommaud, twelve n.e.o’s., and as many men as could he spared, attended his funeral.’-
