SPRING SHOW.
TO-DAY AND TO-MORROW. The annual Spring Show under the auspices of the local Horticultural Society was opened in the Coronation Town Hall this afternoon, and judging by the number of exhibits and the general interest displayed by members and the general public, it should prove a great success.
The interior of the hall this morning presented a hive of industry. Exhibitors and stewards were busy checking and staging exhibits in readiness for the judges.
Among the otnside exhibitors are Airs Cameron (Shannon), Messrs H. Witched and E. Penn (Otaki).
The following is a summary of the entries: School work 250, decorated tables 7, childrens 8; do mantelpieces, 5; decorative class, 90; roses, 44; sweet peas, 98; fruit, 15; vegetables, 75; dairy produce, (!; cookery, 8(1; home industries, 5; fancy work, 51, The display of sweet peas is probably the best exhibit in this class vet shown locally.
The exhibits In the various classes are particularly well staged, rclleeting credit upon the stewards. The sweets stall is in charge of Miss Woodroofe. The cookery class contains some excellent exhibits.

Barton Bros.’ Circus played to a fair house hi Buxton last night, 'fire enterlaintnem proved eqiral to the reputation enjoyed by this combination, the audience showing outward appreciation of the various items submitted by a troupe of acrobats, riders, light-rope walkers, and other artists peculiar to circus entertainments.
Among the visitors to tin* local show to-day are Messrs 11. Witched (ex -president), and I’. Penn, of Otaki.
Vocal (fompol.ilions for children and other attractions will lake place at the Spring Show to-night. The Borough Band and Air Betty’s orchestra will also enliven Ihe proceedings. The trophy presented by Afr H. Witchell for one rose named at the Spring Show was won this year hy Aliss Olive Nye. The trophy has to he won three times before it becomes the property of the winner. The Society’s trophy for best collection of sweet peas was won hy Airs Kenton, and Air I l ’. Penn, of Otaki, Avon the prize for the best rose.
