WAR PENSIONS.
NET CHARGE NOW- £203,000 A YEAR. The Pensions Board, sitting in Wellington, dealt with 257 eases last week —120 new claims, 120 renewals of temporary pensions, and three special eases. The gross totals are as tinder: —• Pensions and allowances, 4,700; annual value, £'2,54,414; average, £4!) a year. Prom the gross totals, however, have to he deducted 034 pensions and allowances cancelled to date, totalling in round figures £31,000, and making the net annual charge £203,000 a year. Tiie pensions granted last week had an aggregate annual value of £5,033. The total added during the past three weeks has been £18,733, nr a weekly average of £0,241. In all, 548 new claims were received during the past three weeks —11)5 from soldiers and 353 from dependents.
