The Gisborne works have one for sale, and the Mayor, Cr Coley and gas work’s manager (Mr Hamilton) last week visited Gisborne to inspect same. They returned to Coxian last night, and their report will be considered til a special meeting- to be held <m Friday evening.
Some time since .Mr Andrew -lonson offered a small cannon which is in Ids possession to the Borough Council, to he erected in the Haig Street Triangle. The cannon was taken from the wrecked Hyderabad, and was in possession of Mr Walsh, now of Hamilton, and was transferred to another owner. A subsequent owner of the property, seeing that Mr douson had the figurehead of the Hyderabad in his garden, offered and delivered the cannon to Itim, where it has rested for upwards of ten or twelve years. Mr donson says when he offered the cannon lit (he Connell he was unaware that it was nol his property until he received a legal notice through the Council to that effect.
