METHODIST CHURCH.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. One of the most successful anniversary services in connection with the local Methodist Sunday school were held in the Methodist Church on Sunday last. The church was beautifully decorated, and the children were seated on a raised platform, the congregation thus being enabled to hear the singing- to the best advantage. The congregations all day were large, (lie church help ing filled at the evening service. The Rev. E. V. Doves, of Palmerston, was preacher at the three services, and his addresses will long ho remembered by all who wore privileged to hoar him. The children's choir, under the able conductorship of Mr R. T. Betty, with Miss Evans, organist, Mrs Chalk, violin, ami -Mr F. Mormon, Unto, rendered their special hymns and anthems in a style which spoke of the most careful training. The splendid tone and sweetness in expression was very noticeable right through To-morrow (Wednesday) the Anniversary Services will he continued, when the annual concert and prize-giving will be held in the Masonic Hall. An excellent programme of children's vocal solos, ducts, instrumental items, etc., will be given. Several of the special anthems will also he rendered by the children, and a. most enjoyable time is anticipated. Refreshments jrrovided. Admission Is, children (id.
