HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A committee meeting of the above was held last night for the purpose of appointing stewards and conducting business in connection Avith the forthcoming Spring Show. The president, Mr P. G. Jackson, presided over a good attendance. Correspondence Avas read from Mr I l '. 0. Smith, of Levin, accepting the position of judge of cookery classes; Len. J. Watkin (Wanganui), accepting the position of judge of school work; Mrs A. Mortensen (Palmerston X.), fancy work; W. 0. Kingsheer (Palmerston X.), cut blooms, etc. The secretary was authorised to arrange for conveyance of judges via Shannon.
It was decided to accept and (hank Air Matheson for his donation of prize in A r oca.l competition. It Avas resoh'cd that the charge for admission he fid afternoon, and Is evening, each day. It Avas resoh r ed that tables and mantelpieces he numbered in order’, of entry. The following stewards were appointed:—Pot plants, Mr D. Whihley; cut blooms (13 to 43 inclusive), Mesdames Symons and Preston; roses, Airs Kenton; sweet peas, Mi ss Signal; fruit and vegetables, Messrs John Ross and Henderson; dairy produce, cookery and homo industries, Mesdames -las. Robinson and Woods; fancy Avork, Airs AlcMurray; decora (Wo, Afiss Spoils; school work, Mr Jackson; miscellaneous, Air Bullard; sweets stall, Miss Woodroofe; door stewards, Messrs Henderson, Lumsdcn and Whihley; sheep-guessing, Messrs McMurray and Ashmore; competitions and tea rooms to be left in (ho hands of the President and Secretary.
