The German losses represent 18 per cent, of Germany’s total at Dm out break of the war; England’s loss is 7 per cent. The Germans seized in their ports sixty-three vessels, with a tonnage of 142,930. Great Britain's seizures total 850,032 tuns. Portugal seized German vessels with a total of 190,407 tons. The seizures are not included in the reports of losses. The HamburgAmeriean Company alone has lost during the war 48 vessels .nil of 205; the Hansa. Dim. of Bremen 30 ships out of 74; the Ivosmos Line 2.9 out of 59; the North German Lloyd 28 out ot 142. The losses since Ist May, 1910, which were .piile heavy among the Allies, arc not included in the above, in August alone the German Admiralty claims its submarines destroyed 120 hostile ships, totalling 170,079 gross Ions; also 35 neutral ships carrying contraband, totalling 38,508 tons.
