BOWLING.
The Pairs Tournament played on the local green yesterday was most successful, the weather conditions being ideal, the green played well, and the games throughout were very interesting. Sixteen players look part in the competition, and several others had a “roll-up” during the afternoon. It was origiually intended to play live rounds in the tournament, hut. the last round had to he abandoned for want of time. Two teams, Spring and 1). AVhihley and Large and Nye, won all their games, and as there was not time to play oil, they divided the prizes. A tasty afternoon tea was provided by Airs F. Woods. The following are the results: — First round. —Ruffell and Woods (3) 22 heal Lazaretto and F. Whihley (4) 21; Spring and 1). Whihley (scr.) 15 heat Lumsdeii and McColl (2) 11; Smith ami Admore (2) 14 beat Betty ami Rimmer (scr.) 12; Large ami Nye (scr) 20 beat Barr ami Hislop (scr) 8. Second round. —F. Wliibley 17 beat AlcColl Hi; U. Wliibley .13 beat Woods 10; Nye 10 beat Rimmer 13; Admore 25 beat Hislop 5. Third round. —Nye 2!) beat F. Wliibley 10; Rimmer IS heat McColl 14; 1). Wliibley 21 beat Admore 15; Hislop 10 beat Woods 14. Fourth round.—Rimmer 17 beat F. Wliibley 10; Admore 18 beat Woods 14; Nye 20 beat McColl 5; 1). Wliibley 15 beat Hislop 10.
The following Club compelitions will he played this year: —Handicap singles (I rophy presented by Air Admore); handicap pairs (trophies presented by Messrs E. Ball and P. Lumsden), and Colder Cup (presented by Mr Colder). Each competition is open to all members, ami entries for same must be made by the I.lth instant.
Dr. Mandl has presented si trophy for rink competition between members of (he Foxton, Shannon sind Levin Chibs. The donor asked timl iu order to encourage the younger players to take a keener interest , a condition of the competition should he teams competing for this trophy should include some players who have not been playing howls for more than two years. The Committee decided at Wednesday night’s meeting that rinks taking part must include at least two members of two years’ standing or under. To decide the first holders teams will he selected by the President and Vicepresidents.
