NORTH ISLAND TIMBER.
The Taihape correspondent of the New Zealand Herald states: Whilst there have been wonderful increases in the production of wool, butter, etc., in the North Island Main Trunk district since the opening of the railway line in 1909, there has been :i corresponding redaction in the limber output. In 1909 the mills around Taunmrunui railed 9,398,900 ft., Waimarino 158,000 ft., Oliakuni 1.104.000 ft., Rangataua 4,700,000 ft., Waioura (>(*,300 ft., Maturoa 2,508,700 ft., Taibape 5,100,900 ft., Ctiku 10,444,000 ft.. Manga weka 3,001,800 ft., Ohingaiti 478,<100 ft.. Hunterville 000,000 ft., or a total of 38.055.000 ft. In the year ended Moreli, 1910, the output from the same stations was; Taitmarunui 199,480 ft., Waimarino 109,350 ft., Ohakime 172,812 ft., Rangataua 89,252 ft., Waiouru 13,049 ft., Maluroa 77,382 ft., Taihape 2,572 ft., Ctiku 40,130 ft. ,Manga weka 2,990 ft., Ohingaiti lift., Hunterville 748 ft., or a total of 773,788 ft., or a, less output from all stations combined than was produced in almost any of the single districts mentioned in 1909. The limber areas in the soul hern part of the Main Trunk are being rapidly cut out. Jn 1909 Taibape was (be greatest timber-pro-ducing centre, but the centre of greatest activity in the industry on this part of the Main T;.:ak line is Ohaktme.
