THE HEMP MARKET.
The London market is firmer this ■week than last. It is, however, very difficult to arrange for the shipment of flax to London during the rest of the season, and it is held that anyone selling to Loudon to-day under present freight-space conditions does so at considerable risk of not being able to get the fibre Home. The last vessel having space lor flax is expected to leave before the end of this month. For fibre by immediate ships high prices have been paid, advantage being taken also of clearing up contracts. I* or shipments now on the f.o.b. market, the price is in the vicinity of £3O 10s per ton for good fail', £35 Ids for high fair, and £34 10s for low fair. Tow: £l2 per ton for No. 1; £ll for No. 2—Post.
