A SOLDIER BIGAMIST.
Auckland, Oct. 0. At the Police Court, Alfred Wiley, a returned soldier, was committed for trial on a charge of bigamy, that at Hamilton on June 3rd, 1014, he went through the form of marriage with Clara Emily Walker, his first wife being still alive. Detective Cummings stated that accused when arrested admitted he had been married before, but had not seen his first wife for ten years when he married the second one.
Clara Walker deposed that accused enlisted as a single man without telling' her, and he had made no provision for her. She went to Wellington and saw accused, who made an allotment order in her favour. She received this money until accused returned from the war, last November. Later she met him in Wellington, but left him owing to remarks made by accused’s sister about his being married before,
