FATHER DORE.
THE “welcome home’’ accorded to Chaplain-Captain Father Dore in the Town Hall on Tuesday night was a line tribute to a hero and Christian gentleman. The gathering was a representative one in the fullest sense. Very few knew (hat Chaplain-Captain Dore was to arrive at Foxton on Saturday night, and very little time was left to arrange a public reception, but the Catholic Committee at once united forces with the Mayor and Patriotic .Society, and the arrangements were quickly in order to do honour to one who fearlessly and unselfishly risked his life on the battlefield to succour the wo under), comfort the dying, and to spare time for a cheery word with our hoys, and to send comforting messages to the dear ones at home. Father Dore knew
no distinctions among the wounded, Ids sendees were ungrudgingly given to all. The coveted decoration deservedly conferred upon him by tiie nuliiorilies, while appreciated by all who know the man, was far removed from his seeking. His bodily suffering' is a greater joy, and his final reward will assuredly be from a source divine. However’, in common with his parishioners, the whole of l'’oxton were glad to see him again in (he llesh, and lo express in a conventional way the warmth ot their affection and regard. We sincerely hope that he will be restored to health, and that his sphere of usefulness and Christian character will brighten the lives of those with whom his future lot may Ire cast.
