Said :t returned “Anzae" to a Dunedin reporter: — There is no one in the Expeditionary Force more highly respected or better loved by the men of his regiment than Chaplain-Captain Patrick Dore, of the main body of the Auckland Mounted Pities, who is among the disabled soldiers on the Willochra. He was severely wounded during the August advance at Anzae, and had been in hospital ever since. His right leg was fractured, and the nerve was severed. Though he still uses crutches, his leg is slowly recovering its strength. SAVED HY A DEVOTED TROOPER. 'l'hal lie reached the hospital ship alive is due to the devotion of a man in his regiment. Trooper E. Foley, who refused to obey orders and leave him at the lirst dressingstation, tin* surgeon in the line having stateil that his life could be saved only by immediate attention on the hospital ship. For gallantry and devotion to duty he was awarded (he -.Military Cross. The men of his regiment cannot speak too highly of “Father Dore," as fie is familiarly known. He smiled his way to every hell the Turks could devise, cheering the living and comforting the dying, and braving anything for the sake of the wounded. Some of them know of incidents he will never tell.
