COAIAHTTEE REPORTS.

The following committee reports were submitted and adopted at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council:—

GAS WORKS. Aleeting held on Sept ember (ith. Present: The Alayor and Crs Coley, Henderson and ALcColl. It was decided to recommend the Council to revert to the original gross prices of gas, viz; 12s (Jd per 1,0(1011. for lighting, and 10s per I,oooft. for cooking and power, and allow the following discounts on accounts paid by 15th of the month, such discounts being calculated to bring the nett prices to (he same figures as at present charged: Lighting 12s (id, discount 3/4, net price Os 2d; cookingl and heating up to I,oooft. 10s, discount 2s (id, nett 7s (id, over I,oooft. 10s, discount 3s Od, nett (is 3d; power (over 5,000 ft.) 10s, discount 4s 2d, nett 5s lOd. PUBLIC-WORKS, Aleeting held on September (ith. Present ; The Alayor and Crs Coley, Henderson and Thompson. After viewing the curve in Park Street at the Victoria Park corner, it was resolved that the curve he reduced by cutting down the corner tree and setting hack the fence at this point and that the metal portion of the road be widened by metalling on the outside of the present metal.

FINANCE,

Meeting- held on September Bth. Present: The Mayor and Crs Freeman, Simmons and Whibley. Accounts submitted amounting- to £428, 3s lid were certified to and recommended for payment. It was decided to recommend tho Council to support the Fox ton Harbour Board's proposals for.a rating- area; also to recommend the alteration in the gross price of gas and discounts similar to that of the Gas Committee. LIBRARY. Meeting hold on September lltb. Present: The Mayor and Crs Freeman, Bryant and Stevenson. It was decided to buy seven new books*
