FOXTON RACING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of members of the Foxton Racing Glut) was held in the Council Chamber last night, Mr .1., R. Whyte (president) occupied the chair, and there was an attendance of IS members.
The annual report and balancesheet, which was published in Thursday’s issue, was adopted. In moving the adoption of same, the president congratulated members on the success of the past year’s operations. Increases in receipts over the previous year are shown in the follow'ng: Nominations and acceptances £lO4, race cards £22, members’ subscriptions £9, and totalisator £.1,083. Out of the last item, however, had to be deducted (he dividend duty of £OB9, an increase in the amount of tax paid of £99. The gate receipts showed a decrease of £2l, and there was also a small decrease in the privileges. He was pleased to see that £350 had been donated to the various patriotic funds. Taken all through, the balance-sheet disclosed a very satisfactory . position indeed. Last, year the incoming committee were recommended to increase the stakes, and did so to (he extent of £340. The success of the race meeting fully just Hied the increase. Mr Whyte referred to the death of Air John Davies, a very old member, and Mr John Stevens, the Club’s patron. Both these gentlemen had taken a very keen interest in the welfare of (he Club.

Symes; surgeon, Dr Mandl; «derk of scales, Mr J. Bnrr; clerk of course, Mr C. Petersen. The following new members were elected: —Messrs W. Waters, W. T. Jewell, H. Hartley, >S. J. Hartley, E. Healey, G. Edwards and M. E. Perrean. Votes of thanks to the officials and the chair concluded the meeting.
