BLACKMAILING CHARGE.

A serious charge was brought against Emily Amelia Callaghan in the Palmerston N. Police Court on Friday morning. It was alleged that on or about 22nd August, she attempted to extort from A. R. Buchanan £I,OOO by means of a document containing an accusation that he criminally assaulted Nellie Callaglmn, aged 15. Accused was remanded til Monday next, hail in £IOO being accepted.
