CONFLAGRATION AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
HIGH SCHOOL IJLSTBOYLD,

A lire occurred in the Bovs’ High School at four this morning, resulting in the destruction of the greater part of the class rooms and gymnasium. The headmaster's residence had a narrow escape, but was saved, as 1 also was the boarding house block. The lire brigade worked well, but the gale blowing made the task diflieulL insurances; Standard, 11,475 on the buildings, 1150 on the apparatus, and 1100 on the furniture (a, little of which was saved); New Zealand, £1,025 on the building (almost a. total loss); Atlas, building 1250; Alliance, 1100 on the furniture (partial loss); Guardian and Phoenix, £BOO eaelt on gymnasium (total loss). The Board's loss is barely half covered by the insurances.
