“OUH PICTURES.” TO-NIGHT! Tho programme arranged for tonight at I lie Tmvn Tisi 11 promises to be exceptionally good, and features as a special attraction a 3,o(H)ft. star drama entitled ‘■'rite Circular Patb"; also “Lumber Industry," “Topical lludget," “One Against One" (comedy), “Climbing Great Pyramid," and “Daredevil Harry." FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. “THE LITTLE DUTCH GIRL." A particularly strong programme will be screened on Friday and Saturday, featuring a 5,(100ft. star drama, “The Little Dutch Girl," also a 2,000 ft. Charlie Chaplin comedy, “Shanghaied." This picture has been repeated many times in all the chief centres, and is a. veritable roar of laughter throughout. There will be the usual matinee at 2.30 pan., on Saturday, and “Shanghaied” will be included in the. programme. The story of “The Little Dutch Girl” tells how the old gardener, a (traded by the antics of his ducks, goes to the lake to (bid a basket with a baby in it floating among the lillies. Six years later Lit lie Dutch is sharing in the labours c.f her guardian—assisting him in the garden and trudging by his side to tho city market. When she is fourteen, death takes her guardian. He leaves her a few coins, besides the house and garden, and I here she lives alone. Lionel, a, famous painler seeking a model for his “Marguerite,” sees Lillie Dutch sitting at her spinning wheel, and persuades her to pose for him. •lean, Ihe woodman, who is more than interested in Little-Dutch, becomes Jealous of (he allenlions of Lionel. On the day the good Padre sets aside for the villagers to make a, pilgrimage lo the Shrine, Lionel inviles Little Dutch to share a day’s outing wit It him. After a drive they visit a hole). From a secluded arhor whore they art.! eating; she sees the \ iliagers enjoying themselves. At eventide they reiurn to Iter inane, where he bids her goodnight. Her absolute innocence lias compiered him. Lionel resolves to leave her in peace. He tells her ite must go away. Nothing kills young creatures like the bitterness of wailing;. Poor Little Dutch becomes more and more <pilot. One day Lise, who always delighted in torlnring Lillie Dutch, tells her, “Your painter is poor, and ill in the great city." With a cry of despair and agony, Little Dutch resolves to walk the 200 miles. Many adventures punctnale tin- Journey. When dean learns that Little l Dutch Ims left for I lie great eity, lie hastens there, locates the painter's abode, and awaits the coming of Little Dutch. Finally site arrives, with holes worn Ihrongh her wooden shoes, (dotlung bedraggled and worn, a really forlorn object. Arrived at the lauding, she rings tin 1 bell, the door noiseles.-ly opens, and she enters—-astonished and awe-struck —a large gallery Idled with paintings and statues. Sim hears voices, follows (be sound, and finally locales (lie noise behind the curtains. She parts them, and is day./,led when site sees Lionel lying on a couch surrounded by a riotous crowd of iiit'ii and very decollete women, and —horror of horrors—a brown, beautiful creature hits her arms around Ids neck. The conelusion of the story is attractive ami palhelic, and delineates in’a powerful way the workings of the mind of the girlish innocent, and is a lining termination to such a line drama..
