THE HEMP MARKET.
Ten thousand three hundred and ninety-five bales of hemp were graded at tbe ports of the Dominion last month, as compared with 7,304 for the corresponding month of last year, an increase of 3,091 hales. For the twelve months ended July 31st, 1916, the number of bales graded was 118,020, as compared with 89,465 for the previous twelve months, an increase of 58,561 bales. During the month 3,115 bales of tow were dealt; with, as compared with 2,046 for the corresponding month ot last year, an increase of 1,069 bales. For 1 lit* twelve months ended July 31s(, 1916, tbe number ot link's graded was 40,761, as compared with 23,752 for the previous twelve mouths an increase of 17,009 bales. During the month the number of bales of stripper-slips was 449, as compared with 120 for the corresponding month of last year, an increase vious twelve months, an increase of months ended July 31sl, 1916, (he number of bales graded was 6,840, as compared with 1,675 for (he previous twelve months, an increase of 5,165 bales. Of the 10,395 bales of hemp graded in the Dominion last month, 7,048 were pm through the ports of Wellington and Foxton.
