WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.
RESULTS OE ELECTIONS. The result of the election of members for the Wanganui Education Board is as follows: — Wanganui Borough. — Elected ; Fred. Pirani (re-elected), 28; R. J. Sewell, 14. Defeated: AY. Bruce (old member), 10; Mrs Comyns, 10. There were 32 voters, all members of the Borough School Committees. Mr Sewell is chairman of the Aramoho School Committee (of which his father was chairman for many years), and has been a devoted worker for the interests of education locally; he is a brother-in-law of Mr W. 11. field, M.P., and brother of Mrs Hornblow and Miss Sewell, of Foxton. Air Bruce was first elected in 1914, but has been chairman of the Wanganui School Committee and of (he School Committees' Association for many years. Mrs Comyns has been a member of the Wanganui School Committee for some years, and is now a member of the Gonville School Committee. Northern Ward; Messrs Hemingway (Patea), and Collins (Westmere) . Southern Ward: Messrs Alt. Craser and Mclntyre.
Central AAhtrd: Messrs Johlin and Christie.
Palmerston Borough: Messrs Broad and Bryant. There are thus only two members of the last Board on (he new one, six having declined nomination.
As 29 members of the committees signed a requisition to Mr Pirani to stand, and one of the committeemen's votes was not received, it; would seem that, contrary to the usual experienee at elections, all those who asked him to stand and recorded their voles, fulfilled their obligations to the letter.
