NAVAL DEPENDANTS’ FUND.
The Governor has received the folloAA’ing telegram from the Secretary of Stale, Mr A. Bonar Law, upon the funds raised in New Zealand for the Naval Dependants’ Fund: —“London, July 2-lth. With reference to your telegram of Juno Kith, (lie Admiralty is grateful forth o sums raised in New Zealand, and suggests (hat (lie money should be transmitted to the War Pensions Committee, Avhich has been set up by statute and specially charged with the duly of administering the funds voluntarily contributed for naval dependants.” In reading the message to the House, Mr Massey said: “What is suggested is the proper thing, inasmuch as it will that the money will reach the quarter for which it is intended, and not he frittered aAvay.” In connection Avith the above, the local Slate school Ims raised a sum of £IOO by the recent fair.
