SHOT BY POACHERS.
Christchurch, July 25,
James Main, the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society’s ranger at Luke Ellesmere, was shot at by a poacher whom he endeavoured to apprehend on Saturday night, one pellet lodging in his right eye. A few months back he was assaulted by a party of poachers and injured about the head, the offenders never being brought to justice.
