MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING
The montid v meeting of the Ma nawatu County Council was held on Tuesday. Present: Sir das. Wilson (chairman), and Crs. W. E. Barber, AV. .1. Phillips, S. Penney, B. Gray, H. IT. Hunt, and H. G. Hammond.
Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows:
From J. N. Williams, Marotiri, complaining of wandering cons on file Knrikuri road. —Advised to impound them. From A. H. AATIson, asking permission to erect a gate on road fronting his property.—Permission
given. From the same, stating that several horses and cattle were wandering on the Shannon-Foxton road, to (lie danger of school children. — Advised to impound tlicin. TRAMWAY REPORT.
The expenses of the tramway for tlie month of .June were heavy and a debit balance of £220 7s lid was made. The following are the chief items of traffic: Grain 82A tons, manure 112 if tons, merchandise 170.1 tons, timber 27,200 feet; faros amounted to £3 (is tld.
The locomotive Rangitikei has been returned from Wanganui.
The Manawatu. —The repairs required to he effected to this engine are at present being carried out and the work will take about a fortnight.
