The receipts for the year, says tlit* annual report, were £5,(130 4s Id, and the expenditure £5,340 (Is, showing a credit of £250 18s Id. Included in expenditure is £557 8s 4d for new rails, fastening's, etc,, and sleepers. The trutile on the line constituted a record and the receipts exceeded the previous year l»y £1,438 Is sd. During Hie year 40 tons of 401 b good second-hand rails were purchased I'com the May Mom Estates Timber Co., Eld., at a cost of £lO per ton, and are at present on hand. A further section of 28lh rails will he relayed with them at an early dale. At the present time new rails are unprocurable from England. The fat stock traflie which commenced on the line last year, lias been good and 500 trucks have been hauled. The want of better siding and yard accommodation at Sanson has necessitated the. purchase of 1 acre of land. There is now sullieient land to allow us to extend our shed accommodation from time to time. The new goods shed will require to be built at an early date. Shelter sheds have been built at Taikorca and Oroua Downs sidings. A private siding has been built into the (lien Oroua Dairy Co.’s cheese factory at Oroua Downs. The cost of carrying out the work was refunded by (he company. A new windmill has been erected at Whale Line.
